CAIRO - 16 August 2026: Foreign ministers from Egypt, Qatar, Jordan, the UAE, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia condemned Israel’s rejection of the roadmap to implement U.S. President Donald Trump's Gaza peace plan.
In a Sunday statement, the top diplomats also condemned Israel's refusal of Palestinian statehood.
The statement noted that Israel’s stance directly threatens the execution of the comprehensive plan backed by UN Security Council Resolution 2803, placing full responsibility on Israel for obstructing peace efforts in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories.
Accepted by Palestinian factions, the roadmap represents the culmination of intense diplomatic efforts by Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, the U.S., the High Representative for Gaza, and the Peace Council.
It outlines crucial steps to limit weaponry alongside the withdrawal of Israeli forces, the deployment of an international stability force, the transfer of administrative authority to the National Committee for Gaza Administration, and reconstruction efforts.
The ministers urged continued active U.S. engagement to oblige Israel to comply fully with the plan and prevent further delays.
They warned that Israel bears direct responsibility for any deterioration on the ground resulting from its refusal.
Reiterating that lasting peace requires a two-state solution based on 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, the ministers called on the Peace Council, supported by the U.S., to take immediate measures to safeguard the plan’s implementation.
