CAIRO - 17 August 2026: Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty discussed bilateral relations and regional developments with his Kuwaiti counterpart Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah in a Monday phone call.
Both ministers praised the historical ties between Egypt and Kuwait, reiterating their shared commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation across various fields.
During the call, the ministers emphasized the need to intensify efforts to contain regional tensions, highlighting the return to the U.S.-Iran memorandum of understanding as a key basis for resuming diplomatic talks and reaching a sustainable settlement.
They also stressed the importance of respecting state sovereignty, good neighborliness, and safeguarding international maritime navigation.
On Palestinian developments, Abdelatty and Al-Sabah underscored the necessity of completing Phase One obligations under U.S. President Donald Trump's peace roadmap and transitioning to Phase Two to ensure stability, humanitarian relief, and reconstruction in Gaza.
The ministers reaffirmed that a comprehensive resolution requires a two-state solution establishing an independent Palestinian state along June 4, 1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital.
