CAIRO - 17 August 2026: Minister of State for Military Production Salah Soliman Gemblat attended Monday the groundbreaking ceremony for a new Sungrow Power Suez energy storage manufacturing facility in the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCNEZ).
The event was attended by Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat, Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem, Governor of Suez Hany Rashad, and Chairman of the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone Mostafa Shekhoun, along with military production leaders and corporate representatives.
Gemblat stated that the ministry's participation aligns with state directives under President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to localize modern technologies, particularly in new and renewable energy, in collaboration with the private sector to advance Egypt Vision 2030 and strengthen national energy security.
The minister underscored the importance of partnering with leading global companies to transfer advanced technologies, build a competitive national industrial base, and open new export markets.
Highlighting the Sokhna Industrial Zone's expansions, Gemblat noted that the SCNEZ reflects Egypt's attractive investment climate, supported by modern infrastructure, a strategic geographic position, and integrated industrial and logistical capacity.
The project represents a milestone in Egyptian-Chinese economic partnership, aiming to meet local market demand for energy storage systems while boosting exports and attracting further international energy companies to Egypt.
