UAE suspends trade, financial transactions with Iran indefinitely

CAIRO – 19 August 2026: The United Arab Emirates has suspended all commercial activities, trade exchanges, and financial transactions with Iran until further notice, following an announcement that its air defenses detected two ballistic missiles launched from Iran toward the country.

The UAE Ministry of Defense said the first missile fell outside the UAE’s territorial waters, while the second fell within them.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry reportedly denied the allegations that Iran had launched a missile attack on the UAE, warning against “multiple operations carried out under a false flag.”

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei rejected the UAE’s accusation, saying such conduct undermines ongoing efforts to build trust among regional countries, according to the semi-official Tasnim news agency.

Baghaei called on all regional parties, to refrain from making what he described as unfounded accusations against Iran.

“In light of the regional escalation that has undermined regional and international peace and security, all activities, trade exchanges, and financial transactions with Iran have been suspended until further notice,” the UAE Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
