CAIRO - 19 August 2026: The Economic and Social Development Plan for the fiscal year 2026/2027 has outlined a number of measures and priorities for developing the higher education system.
Foremost among these is strengthening the link between university education and labor market needs, and expanding technological and applied education programs.
The development plan emphasizes the importance of introducing technological educational models that keep pace with the developments associated with the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
This will contribute to aligning university graduates with labor market demands and meeting the private sector's need for qualified technical workers.
The plan also aims to improve the competitiveness and ranking of the higher education system, increase access to university education services across all governorates, and prioritize the quality of educational services provided to students.
Priorities also include incentivizing private sector investment in higher education and scientific research, and strengthening partnerships between universities and production institutions.
This will allow for increased private sector contribution to supporting the educational process and enhance graduates' employability.
These measures are part of a broader trend to link the higher education system with sustainable development plans and Egypt’s Vision 2030, and to enhance cooperation between universities, the private sector and research institutions.
