CAIRO - 19 August 2026: The Economic and Social Development Plan for the fiscal year 2026/2027 revealed a set of targets for the scientific research sector, focusing on supporting innovation, developing the institutional framework for scientific research, and linking it to development needs.

The plan clarified that developing the scientific research and innovation system is one of its main pillars, in line with Egypt's Vision 2030 and the government's work program.

This includes working to improve Egypt's ranking in innovation and scientific research indicators and increasing the capacity of research institutions to produce knowledge and applications that serve the economy and development.

The plan aims to complete a number of scientific research projects, including those affiliated with the Ministry, and to finalize the construction of research centers and institutes, in addition to securing funding for research projects.

The targets also include participation in strategic projects at the international level, including projects related to smart Earth, telescope networks, and space data, as well as expanding smart green projects and research in related fields.

As part of supporting innovation, the government program aims to establish 15 new technology incubators, bringing the total number of innovation center incubators to 57, with the goal of targeting more than 3,000 students from the innovation program during the next generation phase.
