CAIRO – 21 August 2026: Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly departed Cairo International Airport on Thursday for Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, at the head of a high-level delegation to attend, on behalf of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, the opening ceremony of the Julius Nyerere Hydropower Plant and Dam.

The landmark project was implemented by an Egyptian consortium comprising Arab Contractors and Elsewedy Electric.

The official delegation includes Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hani Sewilam, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities Randa El-Minshawi; Alexandria Governor Ayman Attia, a former deputy head of the consortium, Arab Contractors Chairman Ahmed El-Assar, and Elsewedy Electric CEO and Managing Director Ahmed Elsewedy, as well as officials and representatives of the Egyptian consortium implementing the project.

Madbouly said his participation in the opening ceremony, on behalf of President Sisi and in the presence of Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan, reflects Egypt’s commitment to deepening African-African cooperation and forging successful strategic partnerships with countries across the continent.
