CAIRO – 21 August 2026: The Ministry of Health and Population announced that the seasonal influenza vaccine will soon be available through the Holding Company for Biological Products and Vaccines (VACSERA), ahead of the winter season and the start of the school year.
This initiative aims to safeguard public health and curb the spread of seasonal respiratory viruses. The Ministry highlighted that influenza remains among the most common respiratory illnesses, particularly in schools and crowded settings, underscoring the vital role of vaccination in preventing infection and reducing severe complications.
To meet public demand, the Ministry affirmed its commitment to providing a variety of vaccines approved by the Egyptian Drug Authority—including trivalent and quadrivalent formulations—through VACSERA. The inventory exceeds 300,000 doses sourced from global suppliers, including French manufacturer Sanofi, American firm Abbott, and leading South Korean producers.
VACSERA will begin rolling out the vaccines on September 1. They will be distributed across 28 centers affiliated with the Serum and Vaccine Institute across various governorates to ensure nationwide coverage.
The Ministry noted that the vaccines offer effective immunity for over six months, providing robust protection throughout the flu season. Health authorities strongly encourage all citizens—especially children, the elderly, and individuals with chronic medical conditions—to get vaccinated at authorized centers to protect their families and strengthen community-wide immunity.
