CAIRO – 21 August 2026: The Turkish Ministry of Justice has submitted a request to Interpol to issue a Red Notice for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, seeking international assistance in his arrest over his role in intercepting the Freedom Flotilla bound for Gaza.
According to a statement issued by the ministry, "The legal proceedings related to the attack in international waters on the flotilla activists en route to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza, under Case No. 2026/108 before the 11th High Criminal Court of Istanbul, involve the prosecution of 35 defendants, including Benjamin Netanyahu and Avigdor Moskowitz."
Following arrest warrants issued on July 14, 2026, on charges including genocide, the Ministry of Justice formally requested the Ministry of the Interior to process the Red Notices through Interpol. The necessary legal documentation has also been forwarded to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Netanyahu and Moskovitz face charges of crimes against humanity, genocide, aggravated deprivation of liberty, willful harm, torture, destruction of property, aggravated robbery, and hijacking of transport vehicles in connection with the armed raid on civilian aid workers in international waters and the subsequent detention of activists.
