Egypt’s intelligence chief meets Libya’s deputy army commander in Alamein

ALAMEIN – 22 August 2026: Director of the General Intelligence Service Minister Hassan Rashad has received Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army Lt. Gen. Saddam Haftar in Alamein City.

They discussed developments in Libya and efforts to advance the country’s political process, paving the way for stability and presidential and parliamentary elections.

Rashad stressed the importance of capitalizing on the current political momentum surrounding various initiatives as an opportunity to promote stability and strengthen Libyan unity.
