CAIRO - 23 August 2026: A telephone call took place today, August 23, between Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad, and Mr. Johannes Wadephul, German Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs. 

 
 
The two ministers discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral relations, and tackled a number of regional developments, said the Egyptian Foreign Ministry in a statement on Sunday. 
 
 
Minister Abdelatty praised the distinguished and steadily growing Egyptian-German partnership across various fields. He underscored Egypt’s commitment to further deepening bilateral ties and strengthening frameworks for cooperation, particularly in the economic, trade, investment, and energy sectors, as well as in vocational training, labor mobility, and development, in a manner that serves the mutual interests of both countries.
 
 
With regard to the Palestinian issue, Minister Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s steadfast position that stresses the need to intensify international efforts to halt the escalation and reject any attempts to undermine the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. 
 
 
He underscored the importance of preserving the unity and territorial integrity of the Palestinian territories and supporting the Palestinian National Authority to fulfill its responsibilities.
 
 
The two ministers also discussed developments concerning the Iranian issue. Minister Abdelatty emphasized the importance of maintaining the diplomatic track and prioritizing dialogue as the means to contain tensions, de-escalate the situation, prevent the conflict from spreading, and safeguard regional and international peace and security.
 
 
For his part, the German Foreign Minister welcomed the positive momentum in bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and commended Egypt’s role in promoting security and stability, reducing tensions, and advancing peaceful solutions to regional crises.
