Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi meets with John Christmann, CEO of Apache Corporation

CAIRO – 12 October 2025: Apache Corporation’s initiatives in Egypt have highlighted the strength of Egypt-US cooperation, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi said during a meeting with John Christmann, CEO of the American global oil and gas giant, on Sunday.

Sisi commended Apache's successes in Egypt over the past decades and lauded the company’s plans to expand its operations in Egypt in accordance with the highest international standards.

He underscored that Apache is one of the most important partners in the Egyptian oil and gas sector, being the largest US investor in Egypt.

The president stressed that the corporation's initiatives in Egypt have contributed to encouraging more US investments in the energy sector.

The meeting followed up on Apache's activities in Egypt, and its plans to expand and increase the scope of its business in the fields of oil and gas research, exploration and production.

Christmann, for his part, underscored the cooperation with Egypt and confirmed that Apache looks forward to enhancing efforts to increase production rates in the coming period, in light of the numerous opportunities to achieve new discoveries.

President Sisi also discussed the special status of the exploratory program for the new areas assigned to the corporation in the Western Desert.

Sisi stressing Egypt's readiness to provide all necessary facilities to Apache, which would contribute to achieving the common interests of both sides.

The president added that he looks forward for Apache to intensify its exploration and development activities in Egypt.

Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly and Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi attended the meeting, alongside Vice President of Apache Egypt Assets and Country Manager Greg McDaniel.
