‘Doors Open’ as Egypt and Turkey Forge Economic Bloc

CAIRO - 3 February 2026: In what officials are calling the largest commercial gathering in the history of Egypt-Turkey relations, the New Alamein business forum has signaled a definitive "green light" for massive industrial and financial integration.

Turkish Ambassador Salih Mutlu Şen delivered a high-confidence assessment of the Egyptian economy, stating that under President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the country has reached a state of "remarkable recovery." He emphasized that Egypt now possesses a solid macroeconomic structure, making it a safe and lucrative harbor for Turkish capital.

The "Open Door" Policy

Ambassador Şen highlighted the accessibility of the Egyptian government, noting that the current economic cabinet—including the ministers of Finance, Investment, Industry, and Transport—is exceptionally proactive and "open to the world."

"Turkish businessmen are always met with a positive reception," Şen noted. "The doors are always open to them."

The forum, led by Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) and Ahmed El-Wakil of the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce (FEDCOC), focused on four key pillars for the upcoming decade:

 * Contracting: Large-scale infrastructure projects.

 * Energy: Joint ventures in regional energy security.

 * Industry & Technology: Enhancing supply chains between the two nations.

This summit serves as the formal preamble to an upcoming visit by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, which is expected to bring the most significant Turkish trade delegation to Egypt to date.
