CAIRO - 4 February 2026: Trade between Egypt and Türkiye recorded annual growth of about 3% in 2025, reaching $6.8 billion, compared with $6.6 billion in 2024, according to figures from Egypt’s Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
Despite the overall increase in trade, Egyptian exports to Türkiye declined by nearly 6% year-on-year, falling to $3.2 billion in 2025 from $3.4 billion a year earlier.
Ready-made garments remained Egypt’s top export to Türkiye, accounting for around 12% of total exports at $389 million. Plastics and plastic products followed with $317 million, while electrical machinery and equipment represented $301 million. Exports of iron and steel reached $290 million, and fertilizers stood at $255.4 million.
In contrast, Egypt’s imports from Türkiye jumped by approximately 12.5%, reaching $3.6 billion in 2025, compared with $3.2 billion in 2024.
Mineral fuels and oils dominated imports, making up about 20% of total imports at $729.3 million. Electrical machinery and equipment accounted for $602.2 million, followed by iron and steel at $514.8 million. Imports of cotton and cotton products reached $259.9 million, while vehicles and tractors amounted to $155.6 million.
Remittances from Egyptians working in Türkiye more than doubled, rising by nearly 116% to $69.7 million in fiscal year 2024/2025, up from $32.3 million in the previous fiscal year.
Meanwhile, remittances from Turkish workers in Egypt increased by 18.1%, reaching $11.1 million during the same period, compared with $9.4 million a year earlier.
According to official data, Egypt’s population reached 108.6 million in February 2026, while Türkiye’s population stood at 87.8 million. The number of Egyptians residing in Türkiye was estimated at approximately 52,000 by the end of 2024.
