CAIRO - 8 April 2026: Total financing provided through entities regulated by Egypt’s Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA) reached LE 65.6 billion in January 2026, covering both capital market and non-banking financial activities, according to an FRA statement on Tuesday.
Equity issuances accounted for LE 17.6 billion, while other securities issues totaled around LE 0.5 billion. Leasing activity recorded LE 14.9 billion, and financing for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) reached LE 9 billion. Consumer finance totaled LE 8.5 billion, with factoring operations at LE 12.2 billion.
Real estate financing stood at LE 2.9 billion, reflecting ongoing demand for property financing in the non-banking sector.
Registrations on movable assets totaled LE 4.5 trillion by the end of January, while MSME financing balances reached LE 97.2 billion.
In the insurance sector, total premiums collected were LE 10.9 billion, including LE 7.3 billion from property and liability insurance and LE 3.6 billion from life and investment-linked insurance. Total insurance claims paid amounted to LE 3.8 billion, with LE 1.8 billion for property and liability claims and LE 2 billion for life and investment-linked claims.
Investments in private insurance funds continued to grow, totaling LE 3.3 billion at the end of January 2026, highlighting sustained interest in this investment vehicle within Egypt’s financial sector.
