Mamdani said city authorities lack the legal authority to enforce the International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant against Netanyahu, which was issued over war crimes and crimes against humanity during the war in Gaza.
Speaking on The Interview, a New York Times podcast, Mamdani said he believes Netanyahu “belongs in The Hague,” referring to the seat of the International Criminal Court (ICC), which has issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu over war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Mamdani defeated former NYC Governor Andrew Cuomo and Republican Curtis Sliwa in a race that drew over 2 million voters, the largest turnout for a mayoral contest in more than 50 years.
