Houthis say they hit Israel’s Nevatim air base with ballistic missile

CAIRO – 28 December 2024: The Yemeni Houthis have continued their attacks on Israel, announcing on Saturday successfully hitting the Nevatim air base in southern Negev region.

In a statement, Houthis’ spokesperson Yahya Sare’e said the attack was carried out through a hypersonic ballistic missile, type Palestine 2.

He added that the forces will “continue to perform and implement their religious, moral and humanitarian duties with more military operations against the Israeli enemy until the aggression on Gaza stops and the siege is lifted.”

The attack comes a day after the spokesman announced successfully targeting Ben Gurion Airport and a “vital target,” both in Israel’s Yaffa, using a ballistic missile and a drone, respectively.

Moreover, the Houthis said yesterday that they struck a ship, dubbed “Santa Ursula” in the Arabian Sea east of Socotra island, using drones, asserting that the ship violated “the ban decision of entry to the ports of occupied Palestine by the company that owns the ship.”

EXCHANGED FIRE

On Thursday, Israeli forces struck Sanaa's international airport and other targets in Yemen.

Also, the Israeli army last week conducted deadly strikes on near the Yemeni capital of Sanaa, killing nine people and injuring three others, according to Houthi media official Nasruddin Amer.

The Israeli strikes hit the port of as-Salif and Ras Isa oil facility in Hodeidah as well as the Heyzaz and Dhahban power stations near Sanaa, according to the Houthi-controlled Al-Masirah TV.

Since the start of the Israeli war in Gaza in October 2023, Houthis have launched frequent attacks on targets in the occupied Palestinian territory as well as vessels linked to Israel.

The Houthis say their attacks constitute an act of solidarity with the Palestinian people since the outbreak of the war.

Despite repeated attacks by a United States-led naval coalition against Yemen, the Houthi attacks have persisted.

The war in Gaza has killed nearly 45,500 Palestinians to date and injured nearly more than 108,000 others to date, according to the health ministry in Gaza.

The war has also devastated critical infrastructure and pushed the enclave toward the brink of famine.
