CAIRO - 2 August 2026: Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty discussed regional developments and de-escalation efforts with U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff in a Sunday phone call.
Abdelatty emphasized joint action to prevent the widening scope of tension in the region, highlighting that political and diplomatic solutions remain the only path to achieving security and stability.
He also underscored the need to intensify regional and international efforts to contain existing regional crises and support avenues for calm, creating suitable conditions to resume dialogue and address the root causes of conflicts while safeguarding the security and stability of the region's peoples.
