CAIRO - 2 August 2026: Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty discussed bilateral relations and regional developments with Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein in a Sunday phone call.

The call focused on enhancing bilateral ties between the two nations and building on the current momentum in Egyptian-Iraqi relations to expand cooperation across various fields, alongside continued consultation on regional issues of mutual interest.

The two ministers exchanged views on current developments in the region, stressing the importance of joint action to de-escalate tensions, prioritize dialogue, and support political and diplomatic solutions to preserve regional security and stability.

Addressing the situation in the Palestinian territories, Abdelatty underscored the vital importance of completing the implementation of the first phase of the U.S. president's plan to ensure full access to humanitarian aid and pave the way for subsequent phases.
