Armed man arrested near Trump Golf club ahead of presidential visit

CAIRO – 5 August 2026: A man carrying a handgun and prohibited ammunition was arrested near US President Donald Trump's golf club in Los Angeles County, California, US media cited authorities as saying.

The incident occurred ahead of Trump's scheduled appearance at a Republican fundraising dinner at the golf club.

Investigators identified the suspect as 38-year-old man, who was detained at Trump National Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said deputies observed the man moving around the property while taking photos and recording videos.

Authorities added that his actions appeared consistent with monitoring security preparations underway.

Officials have not publicly indicated whether they believe there was a direct threat to the president, and the investigation remains ongoing.
