Egypt urges foreign media to ensure accuracy in reporting on Egyptian affairs

CAIRO – 13 August 2026: Cairo has urged foreign media outlets to ensure accuracy in their reporting on Egyptian affairs, saying some coverage contained “incorrect and inaccurate” information about Egypt.

In a statement, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said it had been “following what some Arab and international media outlets publish regarding Egyptian affairs,” noting that “some coverage contained incorrect and inaccurate news concerning Egypt.”

“Egypt again urges Arab and international media outlets and foreign correspondents to ensure accuracy in the news they publish,” the statement said.

The ministry stressed the importance of obtaining information related to Egyptian affairs from official Egyptian sources.

Earlier in the day, Egypt denied links to the TIHAMA vessel targeted off the coast of Yemen on Tuesday, after reports claimed that the ship was Egyptian-owned.

Both Egypt’s foreign and transport ministries clarified that the vessel is Yemeni-owned and flies the Tanzanian flag.

The vessel is operated by Blue Sea for Management Marine through its Dubai branch, the Transport Ministry said.

The company is neither registered with Egypt’s maritime chambers nor licensed by the Egyptian Maritime Transport and Logistics Sector to conduct maritime agency activities, the ministry added.

It also stressed that the vessel had never previously entered Egyptian waters, was not en route to Egypt, and was not carrying any cargo belonging to Egyptians.

Egypt had previously issued a similar warning regarding coverage of the targeting of two vessels at Damietta Port in July, noting that some foreign media outlets had published incorrect and inaccurate reports about the incident.
