Mawlid al-Nabawi is a beloved occasion in Egypt and is celebrated by prayers, songs praising the Prophet, shows and podcasts on his life, as well as nutty sweets available almost exclusively during the occasion.
The decision stipulates that the holiday on Thursday, January 29, 2026, shall replace Sunday, January 25, 2026.
This comes in lieu of Monday, October 6, 2025, in observance of the anniversary of the October 6 victories (Armed Forces Day).
